People come here to do business and get a job done. They're usually looking for something in particular, or have a vague idea of it at the very least.

The acres of parts, and places to put them in, don't have much rhyme or reason to them, as far as organization goes. It means you need to either have a lot of time on your hands for exploring, or to know who to ask to find what you need.

Over in the shipyard section -- it's one big open space, made of poured concrete, where captains can land their ships to take on repairs while their passengers go have fun. The people over in the shipyards generally aren't having fun, and they probably won't take too kindly to visitors nosing around.

"What do you think? Advertise, charge admission?"

"Speech competition," Kaylee says absently as her eyes narrow, and she kneels by the new catalytic converter.

"Works for me."

Mal debates staring at the converter as well, but it's all...wires. And pipes and tubes, too.

This is what he pays her for.

"Want me to leave you be?"

There seems to be a wire out of place. Kaylee pulls it out of place, pulls out a pocketknife, and starts to split it.

"...there's just so much to do I don't know where to start."

If it sounds like an apology --

"Suppose you'll throw a screwdriver at me if I say 'at the beginning'."

Regardless of whether Mal takes anything as apologetic, he doesn't wait for an answer. "I got real coffee," he says, straightening himself and leaning on the archway out of the engine room. "Where's your thermos hiding at?"

There -- a quick grin, even if it's only to the wire.

"Top row, third from the left, behind the Sanvrik." Beat. "Don't tell Wash, he'll steal it."
